Heritage Open Day and Village Markets for Murringo

This Sunday, the 5th of May, Murringo will be holding a Heritage Open Day as well as their Village Markets.
Beginning the day will be the biannual Murringo Village Markets at the Memorial Hall. There will be a wide variety of stalls with jams, cakes, pies, crafts, plants, produce, poultry and bric-a-brac. There will also be hot food, a coffee van, a jumping castle and live country music entertainment.
The Heritage Open Day begins at 11am and offers a range of activities so there’s something to suit everyone. Between 11am and 2pm at the Mechanics Institute, visitors can view a slideshow on the Murringo village restoration and complete a self-guided tour using the Heritage Near Me website and map. Tea and coffee are also available. Between 1-2pm, there is a Q and A session with Hilltops Council.
The Shearer’s Quarters at Calabash will be open for viewing between 12-1.30pm and the Plough Inn will be open between 1-2pm.
The Bush Fire Brigade will be doing a barbecue lunch at the Memorial Hall between 12.30-2.00pm.
There are two preventative maintenance workshops from Hilltops Heritage Advisor Ray Christison. The first is on timber buildings at the Police Stables of the Old Police Barracks between 11.30am-12pm. The day will wrap with the second workshop which is on brickwork at the Taubman and Webb Store between 2-2.30pm. The workshops are free but registrations are essential.
