ANZAC Day Services Planned Across The Hilltops

The RSL Subbranch Auxiliary Young will be selling badges and new RSL assorted items at the Westpac Bank on Monday, April 24.

All proceeds from the sale of these items benefit the veterans and war widows of the Young community, so your support is greatly appreciated.

Our ANZACs will be honoured in Young commencing with a Dawn Service outside Town Hall, with people asked to arrive from 5:50 am for a 6 am start.

Residents are asked to assemble outside the Town Hall at 10:15am for the Main March stepping off at 10:40 am.

The ANZAC Day service will begin at Anderson Park at 11 am. There will be a Catafalque from Air Force attending.

Personnel from the Veteran Motorcycle will also attend, and everyone is welcome.

Other services across the Hilltops region include:

• Bendick Murrell - a wreath-laying ceremony at Bendick Murrell Memorial Hall from 9 am.

• Boorowa - A Dawn Service at Boorowa Memorial from 6 am, followed by a March commencing at 10:30 am. Participants are asked to assemble at 10:15 am adjacent the Old Court House Grounds. The march will continue from the corner of Queen and Marsden Street to the War Memorial.

• Bribbaree - A memorial service beginning at 4 pm. Participants are asked to assemble at 3:45 pm in Weedallion Street adjacent to the Bribbaree Bowling Club. The march will then head west to the Cenotaph at ANZAC Park for wreath laying.

• Crowther - A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Crowther Memorial Gates at 10:15 am.

• Galong - A Dawn Service will be held at 6 am in front of the Galong Memorial Hall followed by breakfast in the Hall.

• Harden-Murrumburrah - A Dawn Service will be held at Newson Park, Harden from 6 am. Harden’s March will commence at 10:45 am. Participants are asked to meet at 10:30 am at the Harden Mechanics Institute from where they will continue to Newson Park where a memorial service will be conducted at 11 am. In the case of inclement weather, the services will be held at the Harden Mechanics Institute. Murrumburrah’s service at the Lighthouse Memorial will commence at 12 noon.

• Jugiong - A March will commence at 3:30 pm from the Jugiong Police Station and continue to the Memorial Park on Riverside Drive where a memorial service will be conducted. Participants are asked to assemble at 3 pm.

• Koorawatha - A Dawn Service will take place at the Memorial Gates in Koorawatha from 6 am. All descendants wearing medals are welcome to join in the march. Participants are to assemble in Boorowa Street adjacent Koorawatha Regional Rooms at 10:45 am. The memorial service will be held at Koorawatha Memorial Gates at 10:45 am.

• Monteagle - A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Monteagle Community Hall from 2 pm.

• Murringo - The Murringo Service will be held at the Murringo Memorial Hall from 8:30 am. Participants are asked to assemble on Murringo Gap Road adjacent to Murringo Public School for the March south to the Murringo Memorial Hall.

• Rugby - A Dawn Service will be held at Rugby Memorial Hall from 6:30 am followed by breakfast.

• Wirrimah - Wirrimah will hold a memorial service at 8:15 am in the Wirrimah Memorial Park.

• Wombat - A Dawn Service will commence at 6 am on the corner of Rose and Young Streets followed by presentations of prayers and hymns, the laying of wreaths and the sounding of the Bugle. Participants can then enjoy breakfast at the Wombat Hotel from 6:30 am.
