Transport for NSW has announced Beca as the winner of this year’s Digital Engineering – Connecting Smarter Award for its work on the Bundarbo Bridge refurbishment in Jugiong, NSW.

The award recognises digital engineering achievements and innovation within the Australian construction industry. Entrants were asked to submit an example of how they’re using digital engineering over the life cycle of a project.

Beca’s entry focused on a key project – the refurbishment of Bundarbo Bridge, a 105m long, 5 span, concrete girder bridge that will replace the existing older bridge in Jugiong.

Simon Vaux, Director Digital Engineering at TfNSW, had the following feedback about the submission:
“Beca provided an impressive example of how digital engineering is transforming all phases of the project – from digital site investigation, through to computational design detailing and stakeholder engagement with VR. This is a great demonstration of what can be achieved by progressive engineering consultancies willing to embrace digital engineering.”

Damian Pedreschi, Group Director of Transport and Infrastructure at Beca, says, “We were thrilled to receive this award in recognition of our continued focus to make every day better for our clients. It is the combination of our talented and committed team and our investment in digital technologies that better enable us to drive innovation on our projects, like Bundarbo Bridge”.

“Digital engineering leads to better design, and improves stakeholder and community relationships. It also allows us to invest more time applying our smarts, adding even more value to our projects. This leads to better outcomes for our clients and our communities.”
