Better access to Wallendbeen
Cootamundra MP Steph Cooke assures Transport for NSW's work on the Burley Griffin Way is going as fast as it can.
The 40-minute detour to access to Wallendbeen via the Burley Griffin Way is to be reduced, with a new temporary bridge.
A 62-tonne piling rig has driven in steel in-ground supports for the placement of the 210-piece temporary bridge.
It’s expected to open to traffic in late October, weather permitting.
“Crews have faced prolonged wet weather and found soft ground conditions on site to be less than ideal, requiring an additional steel support structure to be manufactured and installed,” said Cootamundra MP Steph Cooke.
During work, Burley Griffin Way will remain closed at the railway line. Motorists should continue to use the detour via the Olympic Highway and Goldfields Way during this time.
Transport for NSW will make every effort to minimise impacts on the community and keep traffic moving during this work.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control. Please allow up to five minutes extra travel times while work is underway.
