Big Day For Boorowa RFS
Boorowa’s incredible RFS community surrounding the new, and very welcome, firetruck.
Six years ago, the captains of Boorowa North, Boorowa Hughstonia, Boorowa Support and Gunnary Brigades decided that a single large station would be much more efficient for the four brigades to use at the Boorowa Showground on BallyRyan Road, Boorowa.
Current captains, Joseph Banks, Daniel Luxford, Tim McGrath and Casey Cooper were proud to be part of the combined station opening on Saturday, October 6.
Initiative such as this is the first of its kind and demonstrates an incredible amount of mateship across the four brigades.
All but Boorowa Brigade have been in existence for over 50 years, resulting in an incredible amount of local knowledge and wisdom passed down from previous members.
During the presentation, Joseph Banks was officially handed the keys to the new, impressive firetruck.
The brigade was grateful for the much-needed upgrade that will help them keep the community safe during the upcoming bushfire season.
Long service medals were presented to 28 members of the brigade in recognition of their 10 years of active service, with the addition of a clasp for every additional ten years of service.
In total, the medals presented recognised an impressive 1,220 combined years of service. All recipients are to be commended for their dedication, commitment and service to the local community.
