On the 14th of December, the Boorowa Business Chamber conducted its Business Over Breakfast (BOB) meeting at Peppers Café, the topic being digital marketing.
The meeting was chaired by Mel Whitechurch of Melanie Whitechurch Consulting, with representatives from over 15 businesses in attendance to listen and learn from the two digital marketing experts, Xan MacAlpine (“The Social Herd”) and Michele Justin (“Just in Consulting”).
Xan explained that digital marketing is important because we live in a digital society where we want easy access to information right now.
Digital marketing means that you can target your clients and build brand awareness using metrics to ensure that your message is getting across.
Speaking of metrics, Michele said that there are three she uses on social media: engagement, conversion and retention.
The digital marketplace can be boggling to many people, but Xan reminded the audience the role of digital marketing specialists is to make it easy for their clients.
A tip she shared was if business owners want to be actively advertising on Facebook, make sure the posts are different from one other – keep ads fresh.
Michele explained that there are a number of digital platforms that are free or low cost, such as the Canva App, Facebook, Instagram, Mail Chimp and the Google platform.
Canva will design a template for a business owner, who can then manage it themselves.
When the meeting concluded, Mel presented the speakers with beautiful bunchers of flowers from Boorowa business “The Girl and the Garden”.
