Boorowa is full of admirable and successful businesses and on Saturday the 3rd of June, the 2023 Boorowa Business Awards showcased these businesses.
The purpose of these awards are to honor the hard work and dedication from business owners and their employees. Boorowa was lucky enough to have special guests such as Deputy Mayor Alison Foreman and Councillors John Piper and Jo Mackay. Sadly Steph Cooke MP, Member for Cootamundra couldn’t make the event, however she did send through an uplifting video message.
The night would have not been possible without the sponsors Community Bank Boorowa, Boorowa News, Squadron Energy, Tilt Renewables, NBN Co, Fleming Property Services, Boorowa IGA, Boorowa Tractors, Boorowa Arts and Craft Co-op, Karen Smith - Author, and Lyn’s Sewing Services along with our volunteer committee’s business Jeez-dad, M W Consulting and Boorowa Ex-Services and Citizens Club.
Winners of the night were as follows:
- Micro/Sole Trader Business of the Year 2023 - The Absolutely Superb Bibliothèque and Occasional Wine Bar
- Medium/Large Business of the Year 2023 - Walsh’s Country Kitchen and the BEE Centre
- Outstanding Employee of the Year 2023 - Monique Fur-condo - BEE Centre
- Excellence in Tourism Business of the Year 2023 - Boorowa Courthouse Arts and Crafts
- Not-for-profit Business of the Year 2023 - Historical Society & Museum
- Business Person of the Year 2023 - Shauny Murray from the Boorowa Early Education Centre
These awards and the people receiving them are extremely impressive, without these people the businesses of Boorowa could not thrive. Acknowledging the hard work the business people of Boorowa do is not only important but inspiring. After awards were presented, Des Heather, the MC for the night, introduced the band “The Young Ones”.
