The final determination of state electoral boundaries was announced by the NSW Electoral Commission last week, with Boorowa moving into the Cootamundra electorate.

Cootamundra MP, Steph Cooke has welcomed the town’s residents. All Hilltops residents are now in the one electorate.

Ms Cooke said the Boorowa region shares a lot in common with communities throughout the Cootamundra electorate.

“With the redistribution process now finalised, I look forward to getting to know the individuals and families, small businesses and community organisations of the Boorowa region better, and including them in the communities I strive to support as the local Member,” she said.

“This seat is one of the more unique state electorates as it is not based around one major regional centre, rather it is a network of tight-knit towns and villages.”

Ms Cooke has a history of assisting residents in the area, alongside her colleague the former representative for Boorowa, Goulburn MP, Wendy Tuckerman.

“I am very pleased this positive working relationship is set to continue as we commence this period of transition,” she said.

The NSW Electoral Commission conducts a boundary redistribution after every second state election, to ensure the number of electors within each electoral district remain equal.

The redistribution determination is made after an extensive consultation process which involves input from stakeholders, including members of the public.
