Boorowa Community Food Hub Takes Pressure Off
IMAGE: The Boorowa Community Food Hub has taken on a life of its own and eased the cost of living pressures on the town’s families.
There is no need to worry about supplies running low at Boorowa’s Community Food Hub, according to the woman responsible for getting the Hub off the ground Kathy Mason.
“The Food Hub has a life of its own, and it will be full again soon,” Ms Mason said.
“I only need to give a gentle reminder to the community and they step up and donate.”
Ms Mason gave such a nudge on Tuesday, October 29 offering suggestions for types of items that would make good donations, such as:
- Tea and coffee;
- Long-life milk;
- Shampoo and conditioner;
- Snacks for kids’ lunchboxes;
- Vegemite and peanut butter;
- Tinned vegetables; and
- Tinned spaghetti and baked beans.
In fact, anything that has a good shelf life would be most welcome.
“I can’t tell you how many people the Food Hub has helped, as I don’t keep any record,” Ms Mason said.
“People are free to come to the Hub without being filmed or “counted”.
“I can tell you that the Hub has made a difference in Boorowa by taking the pressure off families who are doing it tough.”
“It has also brought the community together through the giving and receiving of the blessing of groceries.”
The Community Food Hub is on the corner of Park and Brial Streets, Boorowa.
