Boorowa CWA’s Baking Steals The Show

In a celebration of tradition, community and culinary delights, the Boorowa Country Women’s Association (CWA) once again stole the show at the annual Boorowa Show with their renowned baking prowess.

Amongst the vibrant displays of local produce and talents, the Boorowa CWA’s annual tea, coffee, scones and freshly made sandwiches served in the iconic Boorowa Pavilion stood out as a beacon of homemade goodness, drawing crowds with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked scones.

The humble scone, a staple of Australian baking heritage, took centre-stage as the friendly Boorowa CWA members showcased their time-honoured recipes and techniques.

With flour-dusted hands and hearts full of warmth, these dedicated women demonstrated the artistry of scone-making, showcasing skills passed down from generation to generation.

The Boorowa CWA’s presence at the local show was more than just about baking, though. It was about community and connection.

As visitors gathered around the Pavilion, conversation flowed freely, stories were shared, and friendships were forged over a mutual love of homemade treats.

Boorowa CWA member Fiona Gorham said the atmosphere in the Pavilion was particularly special.

“There was so much warmth and friendliness, listening to the show comers of all ages coming together and chatting and sharing a cup of tea, it was lovely to be part of,” Ms Gorham said.

For many CWA members, participating in events like the local show is not just an opportunity to showcase their culinary skills, but also a way to give back to the community.

Proceeds from the sale of their baked goods go towards supporting local charities, initiatives and community projects, embodying the spirit of generosity and service that defines the CWA.

Ms Gorham thanked the community.

“The success of the CWA’s presence at the Boorowa Show would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the community,” Ms Gorham said.

She said that from the moment the doors opened to the bustling crowds until the last scone was savoured, the outpouring of support and community spirit was truly inspiring.

Boorowa CWA Publicity Officer Kirsty Miller thanked the volunteers who dedicated their time, energy and expertise to the planning, preparation, and execution of the CWA’s participation in the local Boorowa Show.

“The hard work, dedication and passion for preserving traditions and fostering community spirit were evident in every aspect of the many local events the Boorowa CWA branch supported,” Ms Miller said.
