Boorowa Fire & Rescue gathered at the Ex-Services Club on Saturday, November 30 to celebrate the festive season and to recognise achievements for 2024.
Captain John Barton thanked new recruits Mitch Lesslie, Kayne Trotter, Will Wales, Charlie Collins and Chris Anderson for completing their rescue training recognising that for them and their families it was a big effort.
He proceeded to present Deputy Captain Chris Grimson with his first clasp for his National Medal.
The National Medal is awarded by the reigning monarch for 15 years of service and the first clasp is awarded 10 years later.
Daryl Armour was presented with his National Medal for 15 years of service.
Most importantly, Captain John Barton thanked Phil Riles, who retired this year, for his dedication to the Station, saying he was always proud of our badge and proud of our Station.
Phil was awarded with his third clasp for 45 years of service as well as a plaque of thanks from Fire & Rescue Station 232.
Deputy Chris Grimson added that Phil had served his community for a total of 47 years and a couple of months, a big effort not only for him but for his family, as well.
He then presented Phil with a Fire & Rescue watch with his years of service on it.
