Boorowa Hosts Embrace Kids Screenings
Two free screenings of Embrace Kids will take place at Boorowa Central School on Sunday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 6.
Boorowa Central School P&C have organised two free screenings of the documentary Embrace Kids.
On Sunday, August 4, doors to the school’s hall will open at 2 pm for a 2:30 pm screening and snacks and drinks will be available at the canteen.
The doors of the school’s library will open at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 6 for a 6:30 pm screening, with tea, coffee, biscuits and cake available.
These screenings are not just a fun, social outing.
The film is a spin off from body-image advocate Taryn Brumfitt’s documentary Embrace (2016).
This time, Brumfitt talks to school-aged kids and well-known celebrities about body image, bullying, gender identity, advocacy, representation, etc.
Her list of celebrity friends include Celeste Barber, Jameela Jamil, Electric Fields and Chico the family dog.
Embrace Kids brings together a vibrant collection of stories and voices to entertain and inspire kids and parents that the first step in changing the world, is changing your own mind.
It is an energetic mix of animation, live action, music, interviews, and more.
The film explores the relationship children have with their bodies and covers topics such as social media, disability, gender identity, representation and diversity.
Boorowa Central School P&C will collect a gold coin donation, with proceeds going to the Body Image Movement, whose mission it is to:
Educate our global community and provide tools to promote positive body image;
Celebrate body diversity in shape, size, ethnicity and ability;
Promote positive physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health; and
Combat toxic messaging in media and advertising.
