It was excellent news for the Boorowa Golf Club on Saturday the 21st of May 2022, as it won the 3rd round of the South West Slopes Pennants. The 3rd round was held at the spectacular Clover Leigh Golf Course at Crowther, NSW.
President of the Boorowa Men’s Golf Club, Mark Spulnik, explained that the South West Slopes Pennants is played by four golf clubs: Boorowa, Binalong, Bigga, and Clover Leigh.
Each team consists of five players, and the Boorowa team is comprised of Mark Spulnik, Josh Greigs, Kel Gorham, Rod Neeson, and Greg Atkins.
At the end of the game at Clover Leigh, the aggregate pennant score was:
- Boorowa 20
- Clover Leigh 15
- Bigga 14
- Binalong 11
The final will be held at the Bigga Golf Course at 9:30am on Saturday the 4th of June 2022.
Casual players are also welcome to come along: their game will start later at approximately 10am-10:30am.
Speaking of the Clover Leigh Golf Course, Mr Spulnik said, “It’s the quintessential bush course. A couple of the fairways are carved out of gum forest, which is spectacularly evocative. The sounds of bellbirds delight the ear, and there is evidence of kangaroos underfoot. There are beautifully manicured fairways, maintained by a retired professional greenskeeper and a team of volunteers.”
Mr Spulnik also expressed his thanks to the ladies who provided the catering at the golf course. He said Maria was responsible for two lovely soups: a vegetable soup and a pumpkin soup, and together the ladies made beautiful morning and afternoon teas and lunch for all players.
