Boorowa Wins South West Slopes Small Clubs Pennants

On Sunday the 4th of June, more than 25 golfers travelled from up to 80 kms away to converge at the Bigga Golf Club for the final of the South West Slopes Small Clubs Pennants.

The early morning was bracing cold, the sky hung like a threat above their heads and the sodden course taunted them with difficult conditions, but staunch golfers from our region rose to the occasion and faced every challenge.

Boorowa and Clover Leigh golf clubs went head-to-head for the title of Champion while Binalong and Bigga contested each other to see who would have to buy the drinks.

The golf was tough, the shoes were wet and the clubs were covered in mud, but, by the end of it, Boorowa Golf Club managed to sneak a victory past the exceptional players from Clover Leigh.

Between Bigga and Binalong, it was Binalong that earned the wooden spoon and had to shout the drinks.

The concurrent ‘Stableford’ competition was easily won by Bigga who crushed the competition with an astounding 126 points with Binalong being the runner up at 51 points.
