Last Friday the 12th of March, the Boorowa Women’s Golf season commenced, and this was followed the next day with the commencement of the Boorowa Men’s Golf season.
To mark these occasions, a Golf Medley was held with mixed teams playing over 18 holes. To the delight of the President of the Men’s Golf Club, Mark Spulnik, five of the players were under 50 years.
Mr Spulnik went on to say that, “After the last couple of years with COVID, most golf clubs are on their knees: voluntary organisations have found it especially tough. However, this weekend we feel that we are turning a corner with more community involvement.”
“I’m especially pleased that younger people are joining our clubs. Our clubs are for golfers of all abilities. In fact, I’m the second worst golfer in our club. No matter how bad you think you are, there is always someone worse,” he joked.
The winners of the Golf Medley were Joy Horne and Tim Poplin, and the runner’s-up were Richard Hall and Greg Atkins.
After announcing the winners, Mr Spulnik went on to deliver a special thank you to Steve Pescud and Josh Grieg for taking great care of the green, and to volunteers who help with the mowing.

From the 20th March, Boorowa Men’s Golf will be playing on Sundays instead of Saturdays. The time is 12:15pm for a 12:30pm start.
