Boorowa’s wheelchair bowler, Brett Stanford won the trophy with 29 points on Thursday, April 6.

Bill Buckingham and Col Good performed some wheelchair maintenance mid-game.

They started the club’s compressor to inflate Stanford’s flat tyres.

John Piper, Greg Thurtell and Mark Dwyer were equal second-place-getters on 26 points.

Stanford will travel to play in the Wheelchair Sports State Lawn Bowls Championships this week.

The Championships will be held at South Tamworth Bowling Club from April 17 to 21.

“I play on my own and in pairs,” Stanford said.

“This is about my sixth or seventh time competing. I hope to bring home a medal, but I am up against some good bowlers. I have been bowling well.”

“I won a silver medal in the pairs a couple of years ago.”

The Boorowa Bowling Club will be cheering him on from home base.
