Burrowa House Nursing Home and Aged Care Facility hosted a biggest morning tea event to raise funds for cancer research on the 25th of May 2023.

1 of 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. With troublesome statistics like this, it is highly likely that most of the members of the Boorowa community has been affected by this horrendous disease making this event extremely important to many.

With overwhelming support from staff members and local businesses, they hosted a delicious morning tea along with a spectacular raffle with prizes such as gift vouchers for Boorowa IGA, Boorowa Recreational Club and the Roadhouse Cafe, wine packages and paintings.

Along with the raffle, there was a lucky door prize which was a divine blanket and pillow that was donated by Burrowa House staff member Pauline Taylor.

“Thank you to everyone who attended and made our morning tea a great success. We raised $233.00 for the Cancer Council. Thank you to the following businesses who donated goods for our raffle; Mike at the Top Pub, The Courthouse Hotel, Sue at the chemist, Ex Services Club, Boorowa IGA, Thrifty Link Hardware, DragonFly Boutique, Roadhouse Cafe. Thank you also to all the staff for their contributions and help on the morning,” stated organiser Pauline Taylor.

The successful event was organised by the activity coordinators Jacinta Klose and Pauline Taylor, who were tremendously happy with the outcome of the day.

As a result of the event, many new people were welcomed into the facility who enjoyed the many homemade goods and hours of socialising with residents and members of staff.

Jocelyn Piper, manager of Burrowa House gave a huge thank you to the beautiful community that surrounds Burrowa House and extended her appreciation for the members of staff for making the day special.
