Can You Perform Basic First Aid For Your Child?

IMAGE: Parents can learn the basics of first aid for free at St Mary’s Parish Centre on Campbell Street on Wednesday, August 23.
There is nothing worse than being unprepared, particularly when the safety and wellbeing of your child is concerned.
Even a quivering lower lip due to a scratch on the knee can be enough to cause panic in the hearts of unprepared or first-time parents.
The Hilltops Community Hub has partnered with LiveBetter to offer a free Family First Aid for Parents training workshop conducted by a qualified trainer on Wednesday, August 23 from 10am to 1pm. This training is specifically for parents or families.
It is not an accredited course, so if you require a First Aid certificate for your employment, this is not the course for you.
This free course is an introduction to first aid that includes the basic skills to help keep families with children safe.
To be eligible for the course, participants must be a parent or carer of children from 0 to 18 years of age.
The training will include the basic first aid procedures to deal with the types of injuries that tend to occur in the home.
It will also include:
- CPR basics;
- Poisons information; and
- Allergies and using epi-pens and more.
Each participant will receive a basic first aid kit to take home and morning tea will be provided with a light lunch to follow.
These types of opportunities don’t come around very often, and this one is limited to 25 spaces, so if you would like to learn a few basics of first aid, contact the Hub now - 6382 6328 and reserve your spot.
