Members of the Young Society of Artists Inc started out with a busy program this year.

Anyone interested in joining the activities workshop, exhibitions and open art room through July is very welcome.

Young Society of Artists Inc will celebrate NAIDOC Week with a new exhibition of works of artist and local elder, Enid Clarke.

Enid, like the elders of any community, plays an important role and holds a prominent place in our communities and families. Elders are cultural knowledge holders, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers, and our loved ones.

It makes sense that the 2023 theme for NAIDOC Week is For Our Elders.

The new exhibition will be on display in the Town Hall foyer from today, June 29 for the next three months.

Last week, the Burrangong Gallery, housed in the Young Visitors Centre, held a meet and greet on June 24 to open the exhibition Feather, Fur, Scale and Skin, a collection of works expressing the characteristics of native and domestic animals.

The art room at the rear of the Southern Cross Cinema is open every Monday from 11 am to 2:30 pm, excluding public holidays.

It is a wonderful space to meet, get creative and share ideas and skills. Visitors and newcomers are always welcome.

YSA Inc members will next meet on July 22 at the art room and will hold their Annual General Meeting on August 22 at 10 am.
