Who’s up for a round of golf for a worthy cause? The golfing ladies have organised a fun 4-person Ambrose golf day for Saturday, September 11, with proceeds going to Young Riding for the Disabled (RDA).
The event will be held at Young Golf Club with a shotgun start at 11 am.
Volunteers from RDA will man a sausage sizzle for all participants on the day, the cost for which will be included in the $25 registration fee.
All holes will be sponsored by generous local businesses and individuals, with the sponsorship money also donated to RDA.
There will be prizes for the winning teams and a few surprises awarded to lucky players and don’t forget to grab tickets in the super raffle.
Now, a little about the worthy recipients of this charity event.
A spokesperson for Young RDA, Juliet McFarlane said the organisation had been operating for 40 years this year.
“During that period, we have assisted many children to become brave, confident and skilful riders,” Ms McFarlane said.
“The children look forward to this activity each week and with the assistance of their school teachers and volunteers, they develop confidence and new skills.”
“RDA also offers carriage driving for both the children and adults.”
“Wheelchair participants are also accommodated and welcome.”
“We have about 75 registered participants, mostly children, and operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
“Our 12 wonderfully quiet and patient horses and ponies are kept near the showground and need constant attention with shoeing, feeding and various veterinarian services as required.”
“This golf day will make a considerable contribution to our annual fundraising activities to cover these ongoing expenses.”
Students from Young High School, North Young and South Young Primary Schools all participate in the RDA program, as does Forbes Primary School which attends every second Thursday.
