Community Invited To Christmas Lunch

Residents from Young and surrounds are invited to attend this year’s Christmas Community Lunch at Hennessey Catholic College Hall on Wednesday, December 25 from 11:30 am to 2 pm.

Event organiser and staff member at Vinnies, Krystal invited everyone to attend the community lunch and put the call out for volunteers.

“We are looking for volunteers to come along and help out,” Krystal said.

“Even if we have too many volunteers we won’t turn them away.”

“All volunteers are welcome to sit and eat lunch with everyone else.”

The community lunch is all about, you got it, community and connection.

It is an opportunity to gather together as a community and celebrate the festive season with a delicious meal, good company and loads of fun.

Krystal said the lunch itself was the real highlight of the day.

This is the second year, since COVID that the community lunch has been held.

When there was nobody to run the event, Krystal put her hand up.

“A highlight is that it is a full community event - everyone is invited and welcome to attend, with the understanding that vulnerable members of the community will also be there,” Krystal said.

“Me, being new to Young - I just moved here in July - it’s making me feel a part of the community. It is going to be a fun day.

We’re going to have lucky door prizes.”

Walk-ins on the day are welcome, but it would be nice for those who are able to confirm their attendance for catering purposes. Contact Krystal on 0492 890 359 if you want to attend the lunch or volunteer.
