The 2021/22 Young Junior Cricket (YJC) competition will commence on October 16, as community sport returns next month.

Sport teams can practice from October 11.

The NSW Government announced their roadmap to COVID-19 recovery on Monday, confirming that many restrictions will be eased or lifted as the state looks to reach the 80% double dose vaccination target.

YJC publicity officer Kylie Rowan said it’s good to have clarity and move forward.

“We were waiting to hear the final rules from the state government to announce the beginning of the season,” she said.

Registrations are now open for girls and boys Under 11’s, Under 13’s and Under 16’s teams.

Active Kids Vouchers are accepted for fees.

Ms Rowan said once teams are worked out, there will be team meetings and training can then start.

“Draws will be released after registrations are finalised. They will be posted on FB and the MyCricket app,” she said.

YJC has a COVIDsafe plan, and advises the QR check-in system will be in place for all matches and grounds.

Children must bring their own equipment.

“Kids who don’t have their own can let us know as the cricket club has lots of spare gear they can borrow for the season,” Ms Rowan said.

Master Blasters and Junior Blasters cricket isn’t going ahead unless a coordinator can be found.

Ms Rowan said it’s a great experience for younger children that they can take with them into Under 11’s.

Anyone interested in more information about the role can call Kylie on 0407 488 348, Barb Cusack on 0410 406 056 or email youngjca@gmail.com.
