The CWA SW Group Ag & Environment Day, held at Young on July 8 was very well attended.
There were two guest speakers arranged for the event. Up first was Jane Reed, whose family has a business called The Gathered Green, which supplies organic fruit and vegetables.
Ms Reed spoke about produce that used no toxic chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers which could boost our immune systems and protect us against disease.
She was followed by Rhonda Daly, who along with her husband run a successful business called Ylad. Ylad supplies high-quality biological fertilizers from organic waste, including food organics, garden organics, timber and biosolids.
The aim of the event was to get shires to stop food and garden waste from ending up in landfill by supplying bins to households and high-quality fertilizers to farmers and gardeners by 2030.
