On Saturday 11 March 2023, Boorowa CWA hosted representatives of South West Group (SWG) for its Council Meeting.

Members from six branches attended the meeting, which was held at the Boorowa Recreation Club.

President Geraldine Gore (Canimbla Branch) opened the proceedings with Martine Griffiths (Young Branch) standing as Secretary, and Meagan McKenzie (Young Branch) as Treasurer.

Reports were given and several issues raised and dealt with.

The guest speaker was Karen Smith (Joint President and Secretary of Boorowa CWA) who gave an informative presentation about her book “Great Battles in a Snowstorm: Boorowa and District Spanish Flu Victims.”

Boorowa CWA provided home-made treats for the morning tea, with one participant saying, “This is like going to high tea!”

Boorowa IGA catered for the luncheon, which was fresh and plentiful with several participants going back for seconds.

Thanks were also given to Sharon Webster from the Rec Club for her preparation for the event.

The next event on SWG’s calendar is the Land Cookery and Handicraft Day on the 18th of March in Cowra.

Boorowa CWA’s best handicrafts and cookery will be going to Cowra for judging on this day, and we wish everyone well.
