Congratulations to Jono Watson, Damien Miller and David Quigley who have qualified for the State Finals of the BPL Cup.

The BPL Cup is a nation–wide event conducted by Bowls Australia.

The team won a Preliminary Round played at Young in July and played in the Regional Finals at Temora on Saturday.

They were the winners of their section and won all three games on tie-break ends.

The State Final will be played at Mt Lewis this weekend and we wish the team the best of luck in their games.

There was a variation to men’s bowls during the week when a decision was taken on Tuesday to play on Wednesday afternoon instead of Thursday to avoid the predicted rain on Thursday.

The change of day did not suit everyone but 12 players took part on Wednesday and no play was possible on Thursday.

The vouchers for Wednesday afternoon went to Milan Brankovic and Cliff Traynor who won their game 26-11.

Other winning teams were Darryle Miller and Col Chapman with a 21–14 scoreline and Aldo Malvicino and Harold Anderson who won their game 23-15.

The weather conditions on Saturday were very changeable with some showers, some wind and fortunately some sunshine.

Twelve players were involved in Jackpot Bowls and completed their games despite a couple of short interruptions due to showers.

Albert Carter and Les Fanning won their game by 20 shots to claim the vouchers for the afternoon.

Alan Gall and Cliff Traynor had a winning margin of 13 shots and Tony Ruhl and Colin Powell won their game by 5 shots.

Players are reminded to check the notice board regularly for information concerning future events.

These include a Greenkeeper’s Day on the afternoon of Friday 30th September, NRL Grand Final Day on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd October, Jock Rogerson Day on the afternoon of Thursday 6th October and a 3 Bowl Pairs Tournament all day on Friday 28th October.

Entry forms for the Zone 8 Pairs Championships are on the notice board and it is anticipated that an update to the venues for the Preliminary Rounds will be available this week.
