The Lions Club of Young will host an afternoon tea on Sunday, October 19 at 2 pm at St John’s Church Hall, with all proceeds supporting Childhood Cancer Research.

Lions member Heather Miller invited the community to participate in the event - “A Cuppa in a Mug with a Hug and a Smooch.”

“We believe every child deserves a chance at a healthy life,” Ms Miller said.

“Research is making huge changes to the way children’s cancer is being treated. Guests will be treated to interesting speakers who will give insight into

families’ options when dealing with a life changing diagnosis.”

Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Lisa Simpson, the daughter of Bill and Joy Camern of Young will be the guest speaker at the event.

Ronald McDonald House relies on volunteers to make families of children with cancer feel welcomed and supported.

The Wagga House gives seriously ill children the best gift of all - their families.

The warm and supportive home-awayfrom-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay, with the added peace of mind that they can remain close to their child’s hospital.

Ronald McDonald House Wagga is small but well-equipped, with several communal spaces for socialising and a close-knit community vibe.

Often, the other parents, carers and staff become a vital part of each other’s journey and support network.

A second guest speaker is still to be confirmed.

Once again, the community has very generously donated to the cause so there will be raffles on the day. Numbers for this event are limited, so call Lyn on 0422 604 132 if you would like to attend.

Admission is $20 per person and you can pay by direct debit at the following bank details: BSB 032 840, Account 580358.
