It has attracted artists from the local region for 30 years, and this year’s competitive exhibition was no exception.

Over 200 people viewed 122 artworks at Harden Murrumburrah’s Festival of Arts opening night on Friday, October 18.

Event organiser, and Harden Murrumburrah Arts Council treasurer Jane Martin said artists had commented the exhibition was becoming more diverse, with a broad range of media, technique, style and subject matter submitted.

“The Harden Murrumburrah Camera Club also exhibited a selection of their photographs while beautiful pottery was on display and for sale by local potters, Fernanda Parodi Costa, of Clay and Glaze Pottery Creations in Murrumburrah, and Christine Jurd,” Ms Martin said.

“A special tribute was set up above the mantelpiece to La Reine Beal, who was one of the three original ladies who started the Festival of Arts 30 years ago and ran it until last year.”

“La Reine is ill in hospital and this was the first Festival of Arts that she has not been present at.”

Wagga’s Karen Walsh judged the sections, sharing positive feedback, while special guests Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke and Hilltops Council Deputy Mayor Tony Flanery opened the evening and presented the prizes.
