Hovells Creek Landcare Group is hosting a free erosion control field morning on Saturday, April 13.

Hovells Creek Landcare Group will host a free erosion control field morning on Saturday, April 134 to share successful erosion control works on three nearby farms in the Wyangala/Hovells Creek district south of Cowra.

The morning will begin at 8:30 am just south of the Lachlan River, including a catered morning tea at the second property and finishing with a barbecue lunch at about 1 pm on the banks of Hovells Creek.

This event was designed for farmers and landholders looking for affordable and effective ways to combat soil erosion and gully formation on their lands.

Erosion can have a significant impact on agricultural productivity and environmental health.

This day was organised to demonstrate practical solutions and provide a platform for exchanging ideas with experts and peers alike.

It will focus on the latest techniques and sustainable practices in erosion control, including vegetation, geotextiles, rocks, reshaping and dams with trickle pipes to stabilise soil and reduce runoff.

The event celebrates the finish of an earthworks program at 14 sites on nine properties proudly funded by the NSW Environmental Trust and supported by funds from South East Local Land Services to seed, fence and plant the works areas.

It will be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow farmers, share experiences, and build a community focused on sustainable agriculture and land management.
