The festive season is upon us and so is the Annual Hilltops Christmas Spending Spree, proudly supported by Hilltops Council.

This year we have 131 participating businesses across the Hilltops region with a prize pool totalling $13000. Young 72, Harden/Murrumburrah 25 & Boorowa 34. It is wonderful to see so many local business owners supporting this initiative, look for the bright yellow posters on participating businesses front windows to enter.

This promotion rewards our loyal shoppers who understand the importance of shopping local and what it means to the future of our shopping precinct.

As I visit all our amazing businesses, I am proud of the unique and varied items our region has on offer. This year I urge everyone to source their gifts locally, gift a fresh cherry pie, select a beautiful gift for your home, a boutique wine from our renowned cellar doors or a gift voucher, every business has them, they are the gift that keeps on giving.

I would like to set Hilltops residents a challenge this Christmas, as you wrap your gifts do a stocktake of how many gifts you purchased locally, hopefully the number will be high.

Santa will be drawing out 3 lucky winners at the Young Farmers Markets 9.00am Saturday 17th December.

  • 1st prize $5000
  • 2nd prize $1100
  • 3rd prize $1000

Boorowa will hold their draw at the Rotary Markets Saturday 17th December and Harden/Murrumburrah will hold their draw on Thursday 15th December from 3.30pm until 4.30pm.

As I reflect on another huge year for our Hilltops, I wish you all a magical Christmas full of love, joy and peace.

May you spend the festival season making memories with family and friends, if you are travelling stay safe.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Deputy Mayor Alison Foreman
