I understand that many in our community are anxious and concerned about the events that are occurring not only worldwide, but here in Australia. This is a difficult and stressful time for all, particularly for the most vulnerable in our community. We can and will get through this together if we all do the right thing and look out for each other.  This means maintaining social distancing and recommended hygiene measures such as washing our hands and coughing into our elbows.

As a Council, we are taking this very seriously and taking all measures possible to keep our community safe and ensure that Council continue to be able to deliver essential services. We continue to take advice from the Federal Government and NSW Health and are strictly adhering to all restrictions in place while also taking proactive measures to minimise risk to staff and residents. We are well prepared and have plans in place to try and help slow the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) within the community. We are placing the needs of our community at the forefront of decisions that we make, ensuring we have the best strategies and plans in place to support our community.

An outline of measures currently in place for the protection of our community:

  • Customer Service Offices are closed to the public
  • Visitor Information Centres are closed to the public
  • Libraries are closed to the public
  • Caravan Parks and camp grounds are closed to most, some allowances are made according to guidelines
  • All swimming pools are closed
  • All playgrounds and skateparks are closed
  • Most public amenities are closed to allow staff to focus on the twice daily sanitisation of those that remain open
  • Tennis courts are closed

It is important to stay informed during what is a rapidly evolving and changing environment. Details of closures along with all COVID-19 related information is available on our website under ‘News’ http://hilltops.nsw.gov.au/Media/News.aspx

I would like to thank Council’s General Manager Anthony O’Reilly and all Council staff for their commitment during this difficult time. They are all working extremely hard to make sure Council can continue to deliver essential services to the community.

I remind you that although our offices are temporarily closed to the public, you can still contact us

Be assured we stand with our community in these unprecedented times. I encourage you to be kind, show patience and be considerate of one another. I have confidence the strength and resilience of this community will see us through the challenges ahead. There are still many things to be thankful for, time with our families and the beautiful, beautiful rain we have had are two that come to mind for me.

Stay safe, stay home and do the right thing.
