I arrived in Boorowa last Tuesday to discover the SES at the roundabout, stopping traffic as the flood water was lapping over the Jubilee Bridge. This prevented me from driving the last kilometre home. For me it meant catching up with a friend for breakfast and driving home the long way.

Unfortunately for some in Boorowa and for many throughout NSW the flood waters have meant much more. The loss of all their processions and in many cases their entire home is devastating.

I’d like to thank and acknowledge the SES who generously give up their time to help communities during flood and storm events.

These volunteers have a huge impact on our community when help is needed. To thank them and support them shows their work does not go unnoticed.

My trip home also meant playing ‘Dodge’ with all the new potholes on the roads.

The Hilltops Council is very aware of the damage the heavy rain has had on the already dangerous conditions of our roads, something shared with most of the State.

We are endeavouring to address these problems and ask for patience and understanding as the worst of the damage is addressed first to make our roads safe.

Take care as you travel and drive to the condition of the road.

Today the sun is out, with not a cloud in the sky. I plan to make the most of it and if possible I hope you do as well.
