I had a quick look at the Hilltops website to check out the festivals and events that are taking place in our beautiful Hilltops over the next few weeks. The generosity of those who give their time and energy to ensure the success of these events is a gift given to all who live in our local government area.

The key festivals are the Boorowa Irish Woolfest on Sunday 1st October and the Harden Kite Festival on Saturday 7th October. But do not forget the show circuit: The Watex 2023 Young Show is on Sunday 17th September. An action-packed programme will finish with fireworks at night.

Last Saturday, the Deputy Mayor, Alison Foreman and I attended a dinner at the Young Showground Pavilion to introduce the young women who have entered the Young Show title; Young Woman, Junior Young Woman, and Show Ambassador. All are learning new skills through their participation as they involve themselves with their community and become confident ambassadors for our region.

The Bribbaree Show scheduled for the 30th of September, is another great day. I am planning a weekend out and about across our LGA - Koorawatha Markets and Bribbaree Show on Saturday, followed by Boorowa Irish Woolfest on Sunday.

If the Arts are more your interest, the Harden Murrumburrah Camera Club Photographic Competition/Exhibition is open from 15th to the 17th of September, Murringo is hosting Eddie’s Exhibition: All Colours are Beautiful on 23rd of September and the Burrangong Gallery has a ‘Change of Season’ exhibition.

A concert on Friday 15th September at the Southern Cross Cinema will feature our YOUNGest STARS. Experience ‘An Afternoon of Romance’ in Harden on October 1st with the Capital Piano Trio sounds a delight.

Motorbike enthusiasts, keep the 9th of September free. Bribbaree is hosting the Kanzas Rose Bike Run to raise funds for cystic fibrosis. What could be better than a 400km round-trip mystery tour of the region? Live entertainment at the showgrounds will continue into the evening.

From October 14th to 15th, Young will host a special sporting event with the Young Rugby League Masters Cup 2023.

I realise that I have not covered, in this mishmash of events, all that is happening over the next few weeks- we are indeed an engaged community. Enjoy the warmth of Spring and all that life has to offer in our beautiful Hilltops.
