From Hilltops Council – Mary Dodd

In my non-councillor life, I have been buried deep in report writing for my shared class of primary students.

While it’s always a demanding time, it is helpful to stop and reflect on the strengths, growth and needs of my students, and the implications for my teaching.

It is easy to get so busy in life that we don’t stop and reflect on our actions and decisions.

Talking of decisions, consider if you would like to stand at the upcoming September Council elections.

We need diversity, enthusiasm and a spirit of collaboration amongst other attributes. It is a role that is both rewarding and challenging.

There is information online, but also upcoming face-to-face information sessions next week, at Young, Harden and Boorowa.

These will be an opportunity for village residents to ‘voice their concerns and priorities’ directly to staff and Councillors.

Details have been in the local papers and are online or at local council offices.

On Sunday I visited the beautiful gardens at Glencara, Monteagle, home of the Rustic Maze.

I do love a puzzle - if it has a hope of being solved! Jane Dee, a local singer, was the entertainer.

Despite challenges from the intermittent internet connection and the cold, the crowd had coffees in hand and were appreciative of her relaxed style, and skill as a musician, singer and tech wrangler!

In a stunning setting, people were there to enjoy themselves and to connect with family and community.

I love living in Hilltops!
