I would like to use this column to focus on the great work being done throughout Hilltops in our libraries.
You are probably aware of the fantastic new combined Council and Department of Education library in Young.
If you have not yet visited, please make the time to go and see the facilities available to you as Hilltops members.
It is not only Young but the libraries in Boorowa and Harden provide an excellent service. These Council centres are there to assist you in any and all questions you may have from day to day.
Of note are the current Tech Savvy Senior Classes which are providing information for seniors on making best use of the wide variety of IT programs which you can access these days on your computer or other device. These classes will continue to the end of June.
During July there will be held “Tech Tuesdays” in the Young library from 10am to noon (On Tuesday obviously).
Hilltops Library now has access to ‘Story Box Library’ which is a subscription based educational website for children that makes available stories from local authors and illustrators being read aloud by Australian and New Zealand storytellers. Library users can access this via browser or app.
To celebrate Book Week 2024, our libraries are running a colouring in competition for children aged 3 to 13 based on the topic that “Reading is Magic”. This is open now and entries close on 31st August.
Andrew Holt is returning to the Young Library on June 29th to repeat his presentation to provide information to carers to assist young people to cope with this life. The title of his talk is “Empowering Youth to Thrive in Being Wise”.
The talk is for adults, carers, educators, grandparents, social workers etc. The session will commence at 10am. Contact the library on 63842440 or head to https://bit.ly/EmpoweringYouthWorkshop to register for this event.
These are just some of the things going on at your local library. Drop in some time and have a chat the staff to find out more. Good reading everyone.
