Donations of toys and cash will be collected this weekend for the 2023 Hilltops Christmas Toy/Donation Run put on by the Sacred Syndicate SMC.

Just over a week remains before the Sacred Syndicate Social Motorcycle Club (SSSMC) members come riding into the Hilltops for their annual Christmas Toy and Donation Run on Saturday, December 14.

President of the SS SMC Vinnie said he was happy to announce that Boorowa Central School had asked to be involved this year.

“They will be manning the breakfast barbecue at Boorowa, with 100 percent of monies raised going back to the school,” Vinnie said.

“At lunch time, we have NSW RFS Young cooking the barbecue, with 100 per cent of monies raised going to them. We’ve got three raffles running on the day for the adults - one in Boorowa, Harden and Young.

We’ll raffle off a bottle of spirits.”

“Proceeds from the raffles will be split 50/50 between The Hilltops Community Hub and Zac’s Place. There will be three free raffles for the kids, with a hamper at each stop.

Kids just have to be in attendance. We’ll find them and give them a ticket and one of them will take home a hamper.”

Vinnie said everyone was welcome, you don’t have to ride a motorcycle. You can come in your car, your ute, bring your mum, bring your dad - the more people the better.

Gifts are to be unwrapped so that the team can ensure that they are age-appropriate.

There will be a vehicle with an enclosed trailer on the day, kindly donated by JP Langfield Trading Co and the eggs at both barbecues have been donated by LPC Trading.

There are two drop off points in Young - the Commercial Hotel and Milestones Early Learning Centre. Both of those will deliver their haul of donations to Anderson Park.

All presents will be divided up between The Hilltops Community Hub and Zac’s Place.

Breakfast will be at 8 am at Boorowa Courthouse, with everyone setting off for Harden at about 9:30 am. They will leave Harden for Young at around 10:45 am.

“It’s good to see more of the community getting involved,” Vinnie said.

Hilltops Community Hub’s Naomi Peters said this fundraiser allowed families to give gifts that they may not otherwise have been able to provide for their children.

“It takes pressure off the often stressful time that Christmas can be for people who are struggling to pay their everyday bills and put food on the table,” Naomi said.

“This year, we are having a Family Fun Day as part of the fundraiser which is doubly beneficial.

“Families get a wonderful day out - think jumping castles and face painting - and at the same time those who are more fortunate get the opportunity to bring a gift and place it under the giving tree in Anderson Park.”

Naomi said the number of families the Hub helped over the Christmas period was increasing every year.

“The cost of living is really affecting our local families with more and more people seeking help due to rental/mortgage stress, food costs and utilities rising,” she said.

“In the last two years, together with SS SMC and generous donations, we have provided gifts and food hampers to in-excess-of 120 families.

“Then we also see a large portion of the community who access other supports at that time of year.

“December contacts usually sit at around the 1100 mark with at least a third of those experiencing some form of crisis or need for material aid.”
