RSL Sub-branch/Auxiliary will be outside Westpac Bank from 9 am to 12 noon tomorrow, November 8, selling badges for Remembrance Day.
All the funds raised by the Sub-branch go to veterans and war widows of Young and surrounding areas. RSL Sub-branch/Auxiliary Young Secretary Colleen Beckhaus said the Remembrance Day service will commence at Anderson Park on Monday, November 11 at 11 am and everyone is invited to attend.
“As it’s a working day, after service people will go back to work,” Ms Beckhaus said. “Remembrance Day is a time to pause at 11 am and remember those who have passed, are serving and our veterans.”
A Remembrance Day Service will also be held at the Boorowa War Memorial on Monday, November 11 at 10:45 am.
Boorowa RSL Sub-branch Secretary Bernice Vernon said that after the service, the Boorowa and District Nominal Roll will be unveiled at the Boorowa Ex-Services and Citizens Club.
“It’s taken about 18 months to put together,” Ms Vernon said. “And there are 887 names of men and women from the Boorowa area.”
Light refreshments will be provided after the unveiling.
