Brownhill Belts the Field in Monthly Medal

Saturday saw our February Monthly Medal and a good size field turn up to play.

As usual, the weather was fine and the course is starting to exhibit a bit more length making it start to resemble the summer conditions of yester-year, however the grass growing in abundance and hard work of Chad, Britt and the mad grass cutting man, is making it a visual and playing treat.

Well Saturday saw a resurgence from one of our long term Pennants Players who must be getting thirsty. Heeeerrrre’s Johnny!! John Brownhill jumped from the starters gate and was never headed.

Picking up not only the Event (38 stableford points), B Grade Medal (69 nett) and also the Guzzlers Mug. Thank heavens February is a short month as Johnny will make a welter of it!! Great play and fantastic to see you back in the winners circle my friend.

Winner of the A Grade Medal and A Grade Scratch was Kevin Hoppe who had a very tidy 76 off the stick for a 71 nett, claiming runner up for the day. A few more of those little putts and I am sure Kevin will be fighting par more often this year.

B Grade Scratch this month went once again to the ageless character in Herby Manwaring.

Refreshment vouchers spilled down after the winners of each division got their vouchers and scratch winners also got vouchers.

It works out you had to play to within 6 of your handicap to claim a voucher. Herb Manwaring (35 points), Ron Page (33 points) and the muli-coloured traveller who resides now in Broulee, Garry Wales (30 points) lost his voucher to his brother Brian as he chose to drive home. Tough luck that.

The scoring would indicate that if on your game, a score is out there, but if not, the course still has some bite in it.

This Week

This weekend we have a Mixed Medley 4 Ball Best Ball Aggregate with an Individual Stableford in conjunction. The teams score will be the Aggregate of both players stableford scores on each hole.

Being a stableford it also suits to get your Pepe’s Duck Run round in as well. Check in at the Bar, get a card and vie for the weekly Duck prizes courtesy of Harden’s Own – Pepe’s Ducks.

The Director of War & Finance and I cooked up one of ours to a Jamie Oliver Hoi Sin Duck recipe the other night and the choice cuts were to die for.
