Tradies Day Out at Golf a Success
Hilltops Certifiers & DA Busters sponsored their annual 3 Person Ambrose last Saturday and a very appreciative 54 players teed off to partake in the fun. Brian Tredinnick & Craig Filmer, principals of the co-sponsor Company’s were pleased with the turnout and the growing numbers of participants who are related to the Building trades partaking in a great day out. The lads also wish to thank the Club for putting on some secret 6 & secret 12 prizes as well as packaging entries up with a burger and a beer as part of registration.
In our Scratch division, the burglars from Young who swept a Charity Day in Young only the day before, arrived to collect the Bunnings Vouchers as first prize. This team consisted of Swayde Honeman, Sid Honeman & James French, who collectively shot a 7 under par of 64 off the stick to win this grade by 1 shot.
In the Nett Division, local stars with a course connection (Course Superintendent, his wife and Club GM), Chad & Sheena Gilmour and Chris Longbottom took the Mitre 10 vouchers for first prize with 60.83. Second place went to local Builders Matt Minehan, Ash Hall & with Craig Henman shooting 61.33. Third in this division went to another Young Golf Club connection in Bill Oliver, Daryl Whinam & Ian Page with 61.67. Fourth in the prizes was claimed by Brody Schofield learning some very bad habits from Ron Page & Kevin Hoppe, who had a neat 62 nett. Some very tight scoring amongst the leaders.
Claiming the money back Bradmans Prize for the day were Breanna Douglass, Jessica Killick & Jacqui Solah. Thank you ladies for making a day of it.
As stated, the Club dug deep into its Cellar and pulled out some fine red wines for a Secret 6 & Secret 12. The computer scoring system weaved its magic to calculate this with Secret 6 winners being Ev Shea, Peter Elliott & Jeanette Elliott. The secret 12 went to our sponsor boys team of Tam Kennedy, Brian Tredinnick & Craig Filmer.
The nearest the pins on the day were awarded to Sheena Gilmour on the 10th hole, whilst Clint Stevens hit an amazing shot into 18 being barely 10 inches from the hole in a tricky pin position. So tricky that Clint and his 2 team mates could not drain the putt, instead taking a mere par and not capitalising on the great tee shot.
Our longest drive Ladies went to Ev Shea on the 9th, whilst for the blokes, James French sent a missile out there to claim their merchandise packs from the sponsors.
We look forward again to the next Tradies Day in the program for 2022 with Hilltops Certifiers and DA Busters Development Assistance Service back on board. Chatter amongst the players was they would bring heaps more mates for next year, so we all look forward to another great day out.
Worlds Longest Day of Golf – Cancer Charity Drive
A special mention to 4 of our keen Club Golfers who gave it a great shake on the weekend and slept soundly afterwards I daresay. On Saturday Harry Sachs & Simon Glover faced the test, whilst on Sunday it was Chad Gilmour & wife Sheena who had a dig.
The mission, 72 holes of strokeplay in one day – yes you heard it, 4 full rounds of individual golf in one daylight period. The cause, raising funds for Cancer. All four completed their missions and have proved successful. I am sure that if you want to congratulate them with a donation for their cause and what they achieved, please make contact with any one of the 4 members or even the GM of the Club who can direct you with how to still help this worthwhile and insidious cause.
This Saturday
This Saturday will be an all in Medley Individual Stableford. The booking sheet is open in Golf Genius so make your way to the App and grab a tee time.
See you there Alby
