When was the last time you visited the Harden Library to see what they had to offer you and your family?
The library has a regular Storytime program on Tuesdays at 10:30 am for families with children under 5, which includes stories, rhymes, songs and craft activities.
Children and early childhood teachers from the local preschool visit Storytime once a month.
If you are at home with your youngsters on a Tuesday morning, why not get out of the house for a while and enjoy everything the Storytime program has to offer, including social engagement for your littlies?
The library also hosts adult programs such as book groups, information sessions and other events.
Log onto the website at https://hilltops.spydus.com or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HilltopsCouncilLibrary/ and check out the HRDC digital screen to learn more about the programs on offer.
A new book group will be starting at the end of the month - Monday, March 25 at 10:30 am.
Spaces are limited, so contact the library to book your spot if you are interested in joining in.
There are times when the community partners with the library to deliver programs, such as the Rotary’s Harry Potter Reading Club, which ran during the last two school terms in 2023 as part of a larger Rotary program.
There were 18 sessions in total with just shy of 200 school-aged participants.
The program had no limits on numbers and, to ensure everyone could keep up with the story, the reader (with the help of the kids) would do a recap before starting the next reading.
Children engaged with the reader in all things Harry Potter-related during the sessions.
They enjoyed showing off their Harry Potter knowledge and were often invited to participate in take-home activities such as drawing and creating a sock for Dobby, drawing their pet or familiar to take to Hogwarts, or even just finding the answer to a trivia question.
One session also included children drawing Hogwarts castle via a virtual art lesson by illustrator Johnny Duddle and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) in celebration of Harry Potter Book Day.
All of the children’s artworks are on display at the library.
If anyone needs to brush up on their Harry Potter knowledge before the Rotary’s trivia night, Hilltops Council Libraries hold copies of the books and movies.
