The Harden-Murrumburrah Community Garden was alive with people of all ages as the staff of Bunyip Preschool hosted a beautiful ceremony for Reconciliation Week on Wednesday, May 31.

Garden spokesperson, Rita O’Connor congratulated Bunyip Preschool on a fantastic event. “This is exactly what the community garden is for,” Ms O’Connor said. “A gathering place for the community.”

Bunyip Preschool was joined by Murrumburrah Public School, Trinity Primary School and Murrumburrah High School on the day.

The challenge was to make a sea of hearts and have the students hang the laminated hearts on the fence.

Ms O’Connor said it was beautiful to see the older kids helping the little ones hang their strings of hearts.

The hanging of hearts was followed by a delicious slice of cake and watermelon.

National Reconciliation Week is held from May 27 to June 3 each year.

It is a time for every Australian to learn about their shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of them can contribute to achieving reconciliation.
