The Harden Tennis Club will run its first competition at the club’s new venue commencing on Monday night, May 9.
Club President Bronwyn said they were looking forward to the six-week mixed doubles comp.
“We’ve already had a few people sign up and there is only a maximum of 16 for the comp, so be sure to contact the club or me by the 6th of May if you want to join in,” Bronwyn said.
Courts will open at 6:30 pm for warm-up, followed by a 7 pm start and all players are responsible for finding their own sub if they are unable to attend.
Tomorrow is the deadline for signing up, so be quick.
It will cost $20 for members and $50 for non-members, which will include a three-month casual membership.
Anyone who loves to play, but cannot commit to a weekly game is invited to put their name on the subs list which will be given to all players. Email the club at hardentennisclub@gmail.com or phone Bronwyn on 0417 779 614 to register.
Most recently, they held a Tennis Camp on April 13 which was a huge hit among the kids while they were on holiday.
Coaches Janine and Gary led the children in a series of activities designed to improve their hand-eye coordination, fitness and ball skills.
There were 25 kids between the ages of 4 and 13 who joined in what turned out to be a day full of fun, laughter and friendship.
Coach Janine said was impressed with the turnout and the ‘can-do’ attitude the kids brought to camp.
“All the kids improved on the day and everyone joined in the fun and really worked hard,” she said.
Many of the local youngsters enjoy their Wednesday afternoon coaching with Janine and she will continue through the next term.
The Tennis Club continues to attract new members, many of whom come along to Tuesday evening social tennis.
Bronwyn said that Harden Tennis Club has decided to keep social tennis on Tuesday mornings, from 9 am to 11 am, and evenings, from 7 pm to 8 pm, free for members.
“It is just fantastic to see people playing on the courts and it is important to us as a club to give back to our members and show them that we appreciate their support,” Bronwyn said.
