Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack congratulated RAS Foundation Rural Scholarship recipient Bridie Minehan, a former outstanding Hennessy Secondary student, for continuing to excel in her academic pursuits.

Mr McCormack awarded her with a Certificate of Excellence from the RAS Foundation at a ceremony in Wagga on Tuesday, July 16 in recognition of her remarkable achievements as part of her study under the scholarship.

“Bridie is a third-year student studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Wagga Charles Sturt University Campus,” Mr McCormack said.

“Impressive enough as that is, Bridie was also a school Captain and 2020 Dux of Hennessy Catholic College in Young and previously received funding from the Wombat Social Group to help undertake the Annual Cambodia Immersion Trip, which works to help Cambodian Children.

“Also a passionate sportwoman, Bridie plays netball for the CSU Aggies Netball Club, with which she has won two premierships so far.

“After speaking with Bridie, it is clear her passion for animals and regional communities runs deep.

“She will make a wonderful contribution to the region when she begins to practice as a veterinarian.

“Her parents, Damian and Cheryl Minehan must be incredibly proud of her success thus far - and must be commended for their support of Bridie through all these endeavours.”

The RAS Foundation, an initiative of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, has invested more than $9.1 million into rural and regional communities through several grant and scholarship initiatives.
