Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) and Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) are calling for expressions of interest to join the Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) in 2025.

Anyone with a passion for improving health outcomes in their local community is invited to apply to join their nearest LHAC.

LHAC members are volunteers who provide a vital link between community and health services.

Committees meet monthly to discuss health needs, advocate for services and access to services and provide feedback.

Each committee identifies and prioritises health needs and works with health services to benefit each community.

People interested in volunteering don’t need a background in health.

MLHD Community Engagement Manager Setchen Brimson said they were looking for people who are community minded and have a genuine interest in improving the health and wellbeing of their community.

“Being involved in LHAC also provides an opportunity to play an active role in improving access to health care,” Ms Brimson said.

MLHD and MPHN work together to support the LHACs to understand the needs of people across the region and provide information about services and raise community awareness.

MPHN Community Engagement Coordinator Tom Parker said LHACs were an important conduit for providing information about where the service gaps might be, and assisted us in determining services to commission.

“LHACs are an essential part of the conversation to ensure we understand the market needs and deliver health services which will make a difference and improve health outcomes,” Mr Parker said.
