Hilltops Celebrates Australia Day

IMAGE: Communities acros the Hilltops region will celebrate Australia Day with a range of activities.

Australia Day 2025 will be marked in the Hilltops with a variety of celebrations across the region.

In Boorowa, the Australia Day celebrations will commence at 8am at the Boorowa Recreation Grounds. As well as the Lions Club breakfast, there will also be a kids fishing competition.

The Australia Day Ambassador for Boorowa, to be announced by the Australia Day Council, will open the official ceremony at 9.30am.

During the official ceremony, the Boorowa Australia Day awards winners will be announced.

Following the ceremony, there will be a variety of activities for the community to celebrate with.

The Boorowa Rotary Rubber Duck Race will commence at 10.45am at the Recreation Park Pond. The fishing presentation will follow the race, with the Australia Day Lunch then taking place at the Boorowa Hotel at 12.30pm.

Into the afternoon will be lawn bowls beginning at 1pm, a 9 hole golf competition at 2.30pm and the balladeers and yarn spinners to finish the day commencing at 4pm.

For Harden Murrumburrah, celebrations will begin at 8am at Newson Park with breakfast, local musicians and singers providing the entertainment.

Australia Day Ambassador Mr Peter McLean, Executive Officer of the Australian Organics Recycling Association, former NSW CEO of Keep Australia Beautiful, will feature in the official ceremony, which includes the presentation of the Harden Murrumburrah Australia Day awards.

The Australia Day celebrations will commence in Wombat at 10am at Wagenbah

Oval. All day activities include the tractor pull, vintage car display, antique engine display, Brendon Holmes Memorial Best Dressed Australiana, market stalls and Bushfield camel rides.

At 12pm, there will be a free sausage sizzle and parade, followed by official ceremony and awards presentation at 12.30pm featuring Australia Day Ambassador Mr Peter McLean.

In Young, the Australia Day official ceremony will begin at 9am with the Young Australia Day awards presentation featuring the Australia Day Ambassador award winning journalist and presenter Mr Michael Tomalaris.

The Rotary Club of Young’s Australia Day Lunch in the Park BBQ will commence at 10am, alongside children’s entertainment such as Just Circus Box and live music from Lukie Jewitt.

Entry to Hilltops Council’s pools in Boorowa, Harden, Jugiong, and Young will be free across the day.
