Sacred Syndicate Social Motorcycle Club will hold its annual Hilltops Christmas Toy/Donation Run on Saturday, December 14.

We all feel the pressure leading up to Christmas, but the rising cost of living has seen some families struggle to keep a roof over their heads and food on their table throughout the year, so this time is especially hard for them.

Thankfully, there are groups like Sacred Syndicate Social Motorcycle Club (SSSMC) who will once again run their Hilltops Christmas Toy/Donation Run on Saturday, December 14 across the Hilltops region.

There is no entry fee and all money raised on the day will be split between Hilltops Community Hub and Zac’s Place Inc.

Donation drops will be made at:

  • Courthouse Grounds Boorowa;
  • Hard Rock Gym Harden; and
  • Anderson Park Young.

All money raised from donations and raffles on the day will be split evenly between Hilltops Community Hub and Zac’s Place Inc for distribution into the community where it is needed most.

Naomi Peters from Hilltops Community Hub said this fundraiser allowed families to give gifts that they may not otherwise have been able to provide for their children.

“It takes pressure off the often stressful time that Christmas can be for people who are struggling to pay their everyday bills and put food on the table,” Ms Peters said.

“This year we are having a Family Fun Day as part of the fundraiser which is doubly beneficial. Families get a wonderful day out - think jumping castles and face-painting - and at the same time those who are more fortunate get the opportunity to bring a gift and place under the giving tree in Anderson Park.”

Ms Peters said the number of families the Hub helped over the Christmas period was increasing every year.

“The cost of living is really affecting our local families with more and more people seeking help due to rental/mortgage stress, food costs and utilities rising,” Ms Peters said.

“In the last two years, together with SSSMC and generous donations, we have provided gifts and food hampers to in-excess-of 120 families. Then we also see a large portion of the community who access other supports at that time of year. December contacts usually sit at around the 1100 mark with at least a third of those experiencing some form of crisis or need for material aid.”

Ms Peters said she was lucky enough to head off on one of the bikes last year, but this year she will be at Anderson Park with the Hub team preparing for the Family Fun Day from 11 am to 2 pm.

Donations prior to the day will be accepted, just contact SSSMC via their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SacredSyndicateSMC or email info@sssmc.com.au
