Boorowa & District Historical Society Inc is on the lookout for fresh volunteers to help out at the museum.

Secretary Sharon Meere said that those volunteering their time could do as much or as little as they chose.

“On Thursdays we get our displays organised and clean our museum,” Ms Meere said.

“We have morning tea which usually takes an hour because we have so many good cooks.”

“We’re really social.”

Saturdays tend to be a little different due to it being when the museum receives most of its visitors through.

“We like to show our visitors around,” Ms Meere said.

They also have a few sheds that need cleaning out.

The museum is housed in a pise building, which means it is made of ash, mud and straw.

It also means that displays can’t simply be hung on the walls. They have free-standing cabinets, or works are suspended from the roof.

“We have got to the point where we need to be picky about what we accept,” Ms Meere said.

“It has to relate back to Boorowa.”

The museum is open every Thursday from 10am to 1pm and each Saturday from 11am to 2pm.

The group, including volunteers, meets on the first Saturday of the month at 2:30 pm.
