IMAGE: Cherries are definitely the theme of this coming weekend in Young, with the National Cherry Festival taking place from tomorrow, Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 4.

It feels as though we have been waiting forever for this year’s National Cherry Festival to arrive, but now you can just about taste the cherries.

The weekend is an opportunity to get your hands on some of the freshest, sweetest, most delicious cherries to be found, listen to live music, catch a whip cracker in action or watch working kelpie demonstrations.

There is so much to do over the weekend, including pitting your cherry pip spitting abilities against your mate’s or seeing just who can eat their way through the most cherry pies in the fastest time possible. Sample the array of cherry products - wines, chocolates, jams, sauces and pies - across the weekend.

When it comes to live music entertainment you don’t get much better than young Harry Cleverdon and Lukie Jewitt who will both perform on the main stage on Saturday.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the exciting amusement rides and entertainment on offer.

Don’t forget the Big Breakfast on Sunday morning and visit the Hilltops art galleries, wineries and cherry orchards.

The Cherry Festival street parade is always a crowd-pleaser, so make sure you don’t miss out.
