Young will play host to a number of sporting identities who will speak about building stronger, more resilient communities and mental health in rural Australia at the Cherry Ride for Resilience event from April 21 to 22.
Prior to the one-day fundraising ride, Grove Estate will serve drinks and canapes with guest of honour, Wallabies coach, Eddie Jones.
Following the fundraising ride on Saturday, former winter Olympian skier, Jacqui Cooper, and NRL legend, Wayne Pearce, will be the guests of honour at the Cherry Ride Dinner at the Young Services Club.
The CEO of Active Farmers based in Young, Justin Sampson invited people to visit Young for the weekend and enjoy drinks and nibbles on Friday night, cycle, or follow the cyclists in the comfort of the bus on Saturday before celebrating the event and learning from two great former athletes at dinner.
“We have some great event sponsors supporting all three events,” Mr Sampson said.
“We are very excited that Eddie Jones, Jacqui Cooper and Wayne Pearce, three great sporting stars agreed to make themselves available and talk about how important some physical activity every day is so important to your well-being.”
Mr Sampson said they had already sold 70 per cent of tickets to the drinks and canapes event sponsored by Active Farmers and leading agricultural and horticultural research company, Kalyx where Eddie Jones will share.
“He will talk about his success with South Africa, Japan and Suntory, England and the Wallabies preparation as they head into Rugby World Cup France in September,” Mr Sampson said.
“To donate his time in his busy schedule, straight after a Wallaby training camp at the Gold Coast is amazing.”
The event will begin at 6 pm and is open to all riders, sponsors, rugby fans and anyone else keen to learn how they can help support Active Farmers.
The main event, the Young Cherry ‘Ride for Resilience’, is a one-day charity ride involving almost 50 cyclists riding across the Hilltops region raising funds and awareness of Active Farmers and the positive impacts it has in small rural communities across the nation.
Member for Cootamundra, and NSW Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience, Steph Cooke will participate in the ride.
