Kindness and generosity were the order of the day on Sunday, October 20 at St John’s Anglican community lunch.

Spokesperson for the event, Roland Walsh said it came about as a way of getting people out and about and connected.

“Particularly since the pandemic, people weren’t getting out as much,” Mr Walsh said.

“The feeling was that people were becoming more isolated and not getting out as much.”

It is hoped that the community meals will afford people the opportunity for human connection; to talk to others.

This financial year, St John’s Anglican Church plans on hosting four community meals.

“We’ve received some funding from Bango Wind Farm to help fund the community meals,” Mr Walsh said.

“The balance will be funded by church members and the Boorowa community, so it is totally free for the community to attend.”

“We’re having another one on Christmas Day, targeting those people who, for whatever reason, may be alone.”

The remaining two meals are pencilled in for March and May 2025.

It is hoped that these free fellowship meals will continue every few months.

At the moment, the Kindness Garden is in recess as they are running low on leaders since some have moved from the area.
