Remember to register your light display by midnight on Sunday to be included in the Boorowa IGA Christmas Lights competition.

If you haven’t already sorted out your Christmas light display and entered the IGA Christmas Lights competition for 2023, you have until midnight on Sunday, December 10.

Boorowa Business Chamber President, Garrett Robinson said Boorowa was a family-friendly community with many residents and business owners creating wonderfully uplifting displays delighting children and adults alike.

“The variety of entries in previous years is always impressive, with decorations ranging from inflatable snow globes to solar powered decorations, to light synchronized to music and everything in between,” Mr Robinson said.

There is no denying that the light display adds a stunning element of beauty to the festive season - and judging will take place between December 12 and 14.

Winners will be advised on Monday, December 18, with time to spare before Christmas to spend their prize money. Winners will then be publicly announced on Tuesday, December 19.

The competition is open to all in the former Boorowa Shire Council area, encompassing Rye Park, Reid’s Flat, Frogmore, Rugby, Murringo, and other local villages and locales.

Participants are encouraged to create a little friendly rivalry between families living in their immediate neighbourhoods. All families could pitch in and get a prize for whoever gets the most beautiful light display in the community - plus you’ll all get to enjoy the scenery.

The four great categories being contested in the IGA Christmas Lights competition include:

  • Best Lit House/Residential Display;
  • Best Commercial/Non-Residential Display;
  • Best Novelty Display; and
  • Best Rural Display.

Mr Robinson urged everyone to light up our community for Christmas.

“I’ll certainly be heading to view the many wonderful light displays across the area, just like I know many families around Boorowa do as part of their Christmas traditions,” he said.

Entry forms are available from Boorowa IGA in Pudman Street or on the BBC website at www.boorowabusinesschamber.com.au
